    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 Domaine de la Vougeraie

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a pale gold hue enhanced by subtle emerald green reflections, promising to evolve toward more golden shades over time.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals wonderful complexity, blending notes of white fruits, honeysuckle and acacia. Indulgent notes of butter, warm croissant, honey and spice harmonize with a delicate vanilla touch from the aging process.

    Palate
On the palate, this dry white wine stands out for its perfectly balanced structure, both rich and airy. The velvety, caressing texture combines with remarkable mineral and saline precision, offering a finish of exceptional length.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This great white wine pairs wonderfully with noble dishes such as shellfish (langoustines, lobster), firm-fleshed fish in a creamy sauce, or fine-quality poultry served with a mushroom sauce. It will also beautifully complement aged goat cheeses or foie gras.

    Service and Storage

To fully appreciate this Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C, in tulip-shaped glasses, after opening it about thirty minutes beforehand. This wine, built to age, can be enjoyed now but will continue to evolve beautifully until around 2034.

    Other Characteristics

This wine stands out for its absence of residual sugar, allowing the full purity of the fruit and terroir to shine through. Its classic, taut profile comes with a pH generally ranging between 3.2 and 3.35 for this vintage.

The Mineral Elegance and Purity of a Great White Wine from Burgundy

    The Estate

Founded in 1999, the Domaine de la Vougeraie is located in Premeaux-Prissey, in the heart of Burgundy, France. Born from the desire to bring together family-owned vineyards, this estate of about fifty hectares is now run by Jean-Charles and Nathalie Boisset, alongside managing director Sylvie Poillot. A pioneer of sustainable viticulture, the estate stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamics. Domaine de la Vougeraie thus embodies the excellence of Burgundy through authentic wines that faithfully reflect their prestigious terroirs.

    The Vineyard

This Bâtard-Montrachet comes from three distinct plots covering just over 0.38 hectares, planted in 1970, 1985 and 2011. Ideally exposed to the southeast, these vines thrive on clay-rich brown limestone soils. The vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles, with horse ploughing and Royat cordon pruning to control yields and encourage soil life.

    The Vintage

The year 2024 proved particularly challenging, marked by cool and exceptionally wet weather. These conditions led to coulure during flowering and heavy mildew pressure throughout the growing cycle, requiring constant vigilance. The lack of sunshine considerably slowed the ripening of the berries. Harvest, notably late, began on September 20.

    Winemaking and Aging

The making of this Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 begins with careful sorting followed by a gentle, lengthy pneumatic pressing. After natural settling, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in oak barrels (about 20% of which are new, sourced from the Cîteaux forest). Aging on the lees, punctuated by lees stirring timed to the lunar calendar, lasts between one year and eighteen months. The wines are then blended in tank for two months before being bottled by gravity.
