Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Corton Grand Cru “Rognet” 2025 from Domaine du Château de Meursault
Food and Wine Pairings
This Corton Grand Cru pairs naturally with matured red meats, such as grilled or roast beef, as well as braised cuts of lamb or veal, whose texture and richness complement the structure of the wine. It also goes well with feathered and furred game, such as wild duck or venison, served in a sauce, and with typically Burgundian slow-cooked dishes such as bœuf bourguignon or coq au vin. Mushroom garnishes (porcini, chanterelles) and red berry sauces complete this cuvée harmoniously. As for cheeses, firm cooked-curd cheeses, such as aged Comté or Beaufort, make an interesting match.

The Estate
Domaine du Château de Meursault took on its modern winegrowing form in 1973, under the impetus of André Boisseaux. Located in the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy, the estate has belonged to the Halley family since December 2012, with Olivier Halley at its head. The vineyard now extends over approximately 67 hectares, all of them farmed organically, spread across village appellations, premiers crus and grands crus. This estate combines a remarkable architectural heritage with a winegrowing approach that respects the environment.
The Vineyard
The Corton Grand Cru “Rognet” comes from a plot of just 12 ares, located on the hill of Corton, in the Côte de Beaune. Facing east/south-east and positioned halfway up the slope, this plot rests on a brown clay-limestone soil that is gravelly and rich in iron oxide. The vineyard of Domaine du Château de Meursault, from which this cuvée originates, is farmed entirely organically across its 67 hectares in the Côte de Beaune.
Winemaking and Ageing
The Corton Grand Cru “Rognet” 2025 is made from Pinot Noir grapes, in accordance with the specifications of the AOC appellation. This vintage is currently being sold en primeur, that is, before bottling, which has not yet taken place at this stage of its production.
