    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Charmes" Joseph Faiveley 2023 Domaine Faiveley

    Tasting

    Colour
This red wine from France reveals a light to medium garnet colour, both bright and luminous.

    Nose
Particularly seductive and delicate, the bouquet reveals aromas of fresh red cherry and wild raspberry, interwoven with floral notes reminiscent of violet and rose petal. A minerality evoking limestone comes through clearly, complemented on aeration by subtle woody touches and tea leaf.

    Palate
The attack is generous and round, introducing an elegant, silky texture. The mid-palate is underpinned by lovely vivacity and a remarkable persistence of fresh red fruit. The tannins are velvety, fine and perfectly integrated. The finish, of impressive length, stands out for its very pleasant mineral salinity.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted or sauced poultry, veal, and grilled lamb. It also pairs very well with lighter game such as pheasant, dishes featuring wild mushrooms, or soft-rind cheeses such as Brillat-Savarin or Chaource.

    Serving and Cellaring

To fully appreciate the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Charmes" Joseph Faiveley 2023, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth but has the structure to age in the cellar until around 2033.

The Elegance and Minerality of a Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru

    The Estate

Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley, Domaine Faiveley is based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, at the heart of Burgundy. Today, the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan Faiveley and his sister Eve, leads this historic institution. The estate oversees more than 120 hectares of vines spread across prestigious terroirs. Combining respect for tradition with innovation, the estate is deeply committed to sustainable viticulture, crowned by organic certification in 2025. Domaine Faiveley thus embodies values of excellence and respect for terroir, producing wines that reflect the full richness of their origin.

    The Vineyard

The Climat des Charmes is a Premier Cru located in the commune of Chambolle-Musigny, in the Côte de Nuits. East-facing, at an altitude ranging between 250 and 300 metres, the vines thrive on extremely stony soils. This thin layer of hard limestone and marl-limestone silt provides optimal drainage, forcing the roots to delve deep into the subsoil, which gives the grapes remarkable concentration and minerality.

    The Vintage

2023 began with a cool spring, followed by the definitive onset of summer temperatures at the end of May. Flowering took place in excellent conditions in early June. The vines' health proved exceptional throughout the growing cycle. Faced with a particularly generous harvest, rigorous sorting was required during picking in early September, in order to retain only berries with perfect balance.

    Winemaking and Ageing

The berries destined for the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Charmes" Joseph Faiveley 2023 are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, then fully destemmed without being crushed. They are gravity-fed into vats for cold maceration, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention. The wine is then aged on the lees, without racking, for around 16 months in French oak barrels, with 40 to 50% new, lightly toasted wood.
