    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cazetiers" 2024 Domaine Faiveley

    Tasting

    Colour
With beautiful clarity and brilliant shine, the colour reveals an elegant garnet red hue of medium depth.

    Nose
The bouquet opens with intense aromas of red fruits such as strawberry, cherry, and redcurrant. It is then enriched with mineral and vegetal notes, complemented by subtle toasted touches and sweet spices from its oak aging.

    Palate
The attack reveals a lovely fruity generosity, perfectly balanced by a refreshing acidic backbone. The tannins, well present yet perfectly integrated, structure a mid-palate that combines richness and minerality. The finish lingers, leaving a persistent and refined impression.

    Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with duck pâté with forest mushrooms, roasted game such as pheasant or pigeon, as well as braised pork or beef. It will also enhance a platter of aged cheeses, particularly an Époisses.

    Service and Storage
This Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cazetiers" 2024 has a fine structure, giving it excellent potential for cellar aging over the years.

The Authentic Expression of a Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru

    The Estate
Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a historic figure in Burgundy. Now led by the seventh generation, represented by Erwan Faiveley and his sister Eve, the estate oversees a vast vineyard spread across the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise, and Chablis. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate obtained HVE 3 certification in 2019 and has initiated a full conversion to organic farming.

    The Vineyard
The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cazetiers" comes from a historic plot facing southeast. The vines benefit from optimal morning sunlight. The terroir is divided into two parts: the upper section is composed of marl and limestone soils that provide minerality, while the lower part rests on deeper clay soils, giving structure and richness to the grapes.

    The Vintage
The year 2024 was marked by complex weather conditions. However, this climate allowed for slow berry ripening, thus preserving a lovely natural acidity while moderating alcohol development during the growing cycle.

    Winemaking and Aging
The harvest is done by hand, allowing for a rigorous selection of the best bunches. Vinification follows traditional methods with fermentation in tanks. The wine then undergoes extended aging in French oak barrels to refine its structure.

    Grape Variety
    Pinot Noir (100%).
