    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Givry Village "Champ Lalot" 2023 by Domaine Faiveley

    Tasting

    Appearance
This wine reveals a red-coloured robe.

    Nose
The nose opens with delicate notes of spring flowers, complemented by aromas of red fruits such as raspberry, along with subtle hints of violet.

    Palate
The palate offers a silky texture and a harmonious structure. It reveals a fine balance between natural acidity, fruit and refined tannins derived from old vines. The finish is direct, while preserving a lovely freshness.

    Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs wonderfully with light meats such as roast poultry or feathered game without a heavy sauce. It also goes very well with fine charcuterie, lightly peppered cuts of beef, mushroom-based dishes or soft cheeses typical of Burgundy.

    Serving and cellaring
The Givry Village "Champ Lalot" 2023 can be enjoyed now to appreciate its youth, but it also has the structure required to evolve favourably in the cellar over several years.

The elegance and balance of a red wine from the Givry appellation

    The estate
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a historic figure of Burgundy. Now led by Erwan Faiveley, representing the seventh generation, the estate oversees a vast vineyard of around 120 to 127 hectares spread across the region's terroirs. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate has converted all of its land to organic farming, with official certification expected in 2025. Domaine Faiveley stands out for its constant pursuit of precision, revealing the authenticity of each plot.

    The vineyard
The "Champ Lalot" Climat covers 3.98 hectares within the Givry appellation, in the Côte Chalonnaise. This terroir benefits from an ideal south-east exposure that captures the morning light. The vines, planted in 1975 and 1979, are 45 to 50 years old. They flourish on silty soils, low in clay, which have the particularity of cracking during the summer heat. This agronomic specificity encourages early ripening of the grapes and gives the wine a characteristic rusticity.

    Vinification and ageing
For the production of Givry Village "Champ Lalot" 2023, the berries are harvested at optimal ripeness then meticulously hand-sorted. The estate's philosophy favours gentle extractions in order to preserve the freshness and delicate aromas of the fruit. The wine then benefits from a measured ageing in oak barrels, carefully selected to bring complexity without masking the natural expression of the terroir.
