The Mineral Expression of a Premier Cru from Burgundy by Domaine Faiveley
The Estate
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley stands as a historic figure of Burgundy, in France. Spanning approximately 120 to 130 hectares spread across the region's most prestigious terroirs, the estate is today led by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley. Combining respect for tradition with technical modernisation, the estate distinguishes itself through its environmental commitment, illustrated by a level 3 High Environmental Value certification obtained in 2019 and an ambitious transition towards organic farming.
The Vineyard
The 0.37-hectare plot from which this wine originates lies at the foot of the slope, on the edge of Meursault, within the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Planted in 1995, the vines flourish on a distinctive terroir composed of compact marly soils and ferruginous clay-limestone, lending the wine a pronounced minerality.
The Vintage
The 2024 year proved particularly demanding due to relentless rainfall that led to strong mildew pressure. These complex weather conditions required tireless work and constant attention in the vineyards to preserve the health of the grapes, ultimately resulting in berries of beautiful balance and great authenticity.
Winemaking and Ageing
After a rigorous selection of the berries, the vinification of this Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Referts" 2024 takes place with precision in stainless steel tanks as well as in oak barrels. The wine then benefits from extended ageing in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new wood, in order to develop its aromatic complexity.
