    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Poruzots" 2023 Domaine François Mikulski

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a pale gold hue, brilliant and perfectly limpid, typical of a white wine born of great limestone terroirs.

    Nose
The bouquet proves intense and complex, opening with delicate notes of honeysuckle and almond paste. With aeration, it evolves towards aromas of gently roasted hazelnuts, fresh herbs and a pronounced chalky minerality. Touches of citrus, ginger and white pepper then appear to complete this aromatic ensemble.

    Palate
The attack is both generous and precise, dominated by flavours of white and stone fruits such as peach and pear. A lovely vivacity accompanies a silky texture, leading to a sophisticated mid-palate with spicy and herbaceous nuances. The finish is long, energetic and deeply mineral.

    Food and wine pairing

This wine pairs beautifully with shellfish such as poached lobster or langoustines, as well as with poultry served in a cream sauce. It also goes wonderfully with soft-rind cheeses such as Époisses, or with a white truffle risotto.

    Service and storage

To fully appreciate this Meursault 1er Cru "Les Poruzots" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 14°C, after allowing it to rest for a few hours. It can be enjoyed now but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2039.

The mineral and silky expression of a Meursault Premier Cru

    The estate

Founded in 1991, Domaine François Mikulski is located in the village of Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy, France. The ten-hectare vineyard is now run by François and Marie-Pierre Mikulski, joined by their son-in-law Thomas Boccon as co-manager. The estate stands out for its environmentally respectful approach, applying the principles of organic farming without certification. The domaine favours an authentic expression of the terroir and the purity of its wines, asserting a philosophy in which wine is, above all, made to be enjoyed.

    The vineyard

The Premier Cru Les Poruzots plot, located in the commune of Meursault, spans just over half a hectare. Facing east, the vines, roughly fifty years old, benefit from ideal morning sunlight. The terroir is characterised by a layer of brown loam resting on a fractured bedrock of marl and limestone. The vineyard is farmed using organic methods, encouraging deep rooting and a fine mineral expression.

    The vintage

2023 benefited from mild spring conditions, followed by a warm summer marked by cool nights. Moderate rainfall and favourable weather allowed for an early harvest, yielding grapes at optimal ripeness while retaining lovely natural acidity.

    Winemaking and ageing

The making of the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Poruzots" 2023 begins with pneumatic pressing and rigorous settling. Fermentation proceeds slowly thanks to indigenous yeasts in cool cellars carved into the rock. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged on the lees for around twelve months in oak barrels, with 20% new oak. Further ageing takes place before bottling, which occurs in February.

    Grape variety

    100% Chardonnay.
