Domaine Georges Vernay : Coteau de Vernon 2022

This is the most aromatically restrained Condrieu in this (Yapp Brothers) line-up and seems a bit closed at the moment. Orange blossom and peel, toast, brioche and a mineral note. It’s fairly oily and quite rich; could use some more time. (JRL)

Complex notes of wild herbs, menthol, Williams pear, bergamot and candied orange peel unfold harmoniously, accompanied by spicy ginger. Enveloping and delicate, with a melting freshness, you sense the generosity of the vintage without the wine becoming overpowering.

Honey cream and beeswax introduce this round, richly styled showstopper, filled in with apple, pear, dried thyme and star anise, all backed by serious mineral density. Decadent notes of white mocha and salted buttercream make for a caressing and lush yet focused finish, with impressive depth and energy. Stunning.
