The elegance and precision of a Cornas wine
The estate
The story of Domaine Graeme & Julie Bott officially began in 2015, when the Franco-New Zealand couple bought an overgrown garden in Condrieu. Graeme and Julie Bott now run the estate and have built up 12 hectares of their own vineyards in the heart of the northern Rhône Valley, with a cellar based in Ampuis. Having started from scratch, these passionate winegrowers stand out for working their vines entirely by hand and for their meticulous plot-by-plot approach. Their aim is to express all the purity and elegance of their schist and granite terroirs.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from a plot acquired in 2020 on a magnificent granite terroir within the Cornas appellation. The vines are around fifteen years old. They are worked entirely by hand, as the region's steep slopes require, with the utmost respect for the environment.
The vintage
2023 was an exceptional year for the region. Particularly favourable weather allowed the grapes to reach balanced ripeness in perfect health. This makes the vintage one of the finest successes in the northern Rhône Valley.
Vinification and ageing
A high proportion of whole bunches is used to make this wine. Extraction is gentle, with a single pump-over a day at the start of maceration to keep the tannins fine. The wine then undergoes long ageing for 20 months in French oak barrels.
Grape variety
This cuvée is made entirely from Syrah (100%).
