Characteristics and tasting notes of the Côte-Rôtie 2023 from Domaine Graeme & Julie Bott

    Tasting

    Appearance
This wine reveals a beautiful red hue.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet expresses floral notes of violet intertwined with black fruit aromas, underscored by hints of graphite and grilled spices.

    Palate
The palate proves structured and serious, offering a beautiful complexity that lingers on a persistent finish.

    Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs ideally with roasted or grilled red meats, a rack of lamb with herbs, braised beef or even feathered game. It also accompanies aged hard cheeses such as Comté wonderfully.

    Serving and cellaring
Crafted for long evolution, this Côte-Rôtie 2023 boasts remarkable cellaring potential, allowing it to be kept in the cellar for 15 to 20 years, or even longer.

The refinement and texture of a Rhône Valley red wine by Domaine Graeme & Julie Bott

    The estate
Founded in 2015 from vinifications carried out in a garage, the estate is today run by its creators, Graeme and Julie Bott. Located in Ampuis, at the heart of the northern Rhône Valley, it extends over approximately 12 hectares. This French-New Zealand couple passionately cultivates the historic terroirs of the region. Their philosophy is based on showcasing the schist and granite soils, considered the birthplace of local grape varieties, in order to produce authentic wines with a strong identity.

    The vineyard
The vines of this Côte-Rôtie cuvée are ideally located in the commune of Ampuis. Aged between 30 and 40 years, they thrive on steep terroirs composed of schist and granite. The vineyard is planted with a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare, thereby fostering a beautiful concentration in the grapes.

    Winemaking and aging
The harvest of this Côte-Rôtie 2023 is carried out by hand, followed by a rigorous double sorting in the vineyard and then upon arrival at the cellar. The winemaking incorporates 30% whole clusters and relies on cold maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts. Finally, the wine benefits from a careful 20-month aging in Burgundy-style French oak barrels.

    Grape variety
    100% Syrah.
