Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Grande Réserve 2025 from Domaine Henri Bourgeois
Tasting notes
Appearance
This white wine reveals a bright golden hue, enhanced by delicate green highlights.
Nose
Particularly expressive and beautifully refined, the bouquet unveils citrus aromas dominated by grapefruit, intertwined with the generosity of pineapple. Subtle notes of white flowers, boxwood and a light smoky touch complete this remarkable aromatic complexity.
Palate
The attack offers crisp fruit that evolves into a full, rich and perfectly chiselled texture. The balance is remarkable, leading to a persistent, harmonious and deeply mineral finish.
Food and wine pairings
Ideal as an aperitif, this wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, oysters or a delicate asparagus velouté. It will also brilliantly accompany grilled fish with a lemon sauce, light white meats or fresh cheeses, particularly goat's cheese.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the Grande Réserve 2025, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12 °C. This vintage can be enjoyed in its youth and will continue to evolve favourably until around 2030.
The elegance and precision of a great white Sancerre
The estate
Although the family has cultivated vines in Chavignol since 1696, the true founding of Domaine Henri Bourgeois dates back to the 1950s. Located in the heart of France, in the prestigious Loire region, the estate now spans 72 hectares. Now led by Jean-Marie, Arnaud, Lionel and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois, the estate stands out for its profound respect for the living world. Fully certified organic, it embodies the perfect union between family tradition and viticultural excellence to reveal the finest terroirs of its appellation.
The vineyard
The vines dedicated to this cuvée flourish on the hillsides between the village of Chavignol and Sancerre. This singular terroir consists of 65% clay, bringing flesh to the wine, and 35% limestone, ensuring its structure. Cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, the vineyard is tended with meticulous care, with high planting density, deliberately low yields and cover cropping between the rows to promote biodiversity.
Winemaking and ageing
Upon arrival at the winery, the berries undergo a gentle and slow pressing to preserve all their aromatic purity. After natural cold clarification, the fermentation of the Grande Réserve 2025 takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, at temperatures maintained between 16 and 19 °C. Finally, the wine is aged on fine lees for 5 to 6 months, giving it added volume, richness and complexity.
Grape variety
This white Sancerre is exclusively crafted from Sauvignon Blanc (100%).
