    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village from Domaine Henri Rebourseau

    Tasting Notes

    Appearance
The colour reveals a purple hue, both youthful and deep.

    Nose
Fresh and spicy, the nose exudes aromas of morello cherry and flowers such as peony and violet. It also opens onto notes of black pepper, liquorice and fresh earth.

    Palate
Straightforward and elegant, the palate is seductive with its generous character and the brightness of its ripe fruit. It rests on a well-structured tannic backbone with particularly juicy tannins, offering lovely freshness on the finish.

    Food and Wine Pairings

This French red wine pairs wonderfully with grilled or roasted red meats, as well as with flavourful poultry such as spice-roasted duck or duck tataki with black cherries. It will also go very well with mushroom-based dishes.

    Serving and Cellaring

To fully enjoy this 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 17°C, taking care to decant it about an hour before tasting. This wine can be enjoyed now for its vibrant fruit, but it will continue to develop further complexity in the cellar until around 2032.

The Elegance and Freshness of a Red Burgundy Wine

    The Estate

Founded in 1861 by Jean-Baptiste Rebourseau, Domaine Henri Rebourseau today spans 13.5 hectares in the heart of Burgundy. This historic vineyard stands out for its heritage of old vines and grands crus. Since 2018, the estate has been majority-owned by the Bouygues family, who have partnered with the de Surrel family, represented by Louis and Bénigne. Together, they continue family traditions and a rigorous plot-by-plot philosophy, aiming to express the quintessence of each terroir through environmentally respectful practices.

    The Vineyard

This wine comes from the Aux Corvées plot, located to the south of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. Spanning 2.35 hectares, this flat, rich terroir sits on deep clay-limestone soils, one to two metres deep. The old vines, averaging 54 years of age, are cultivated with low yields following the principles of organic and biodynamic farming, encouraging deep rooting and an authentic expression of the climat.

    The Vintage

The year 2022 was marked by warm and at times dry weather conditions. This summer climate allowed for excellent grape ripeness, favouring an intense and vibrant fruity expression while preserving lovely freshness.

    Winemaking and Aging

Winemaking follows a minimal-intervention approach to allow the terroir to fully express itself. This 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is then aged for one year in oak barrels, refining the tannic structure while preserving the purity and primary character of the fruit.
