A delicate, expressive Sancerre Rouge from Domaine Laporte
The estate
Founded in 1850 in Saint-Satur, the Domaine Laporte thrives over 21 hectares in the Loire Valley, between Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. Managed by Arnaud and Cédric Bourgeois since the family acquisition in 1986, the estate has practiced certified organic viticulture since 2013. The plot-by-plot approach favors the expression of the terroirs, notably on the Rochoy monopole.
The vineyard
The vines for this Les Grandmontains cuvée flourish on the limestone soils typical of Sancerre, composed of particularly stony “Caillottes.” Situated on the ridge tops, they benefit from optimal south and southwest exposure for the ripening of Pinot Noir.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage in the Loire enjoyed favorable weather conditions that enabled fine ripening of Pinot Noir and optimal expression of the limestone terroir.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for Les Grandmontains Rouge 2023 are hand-harvested before undergoing maceration with pump-overs and gentle punch-downs. Fermentation is carried out using a rigorous selection of yeasts specific to each parcel.
Grape variety
This cuvée is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape of red wines from Sancerre.
