The elegance and complexity of a red wine from Monthélie by Domaine Lejeune

    The estate

A historic family estate located in Pommard, at the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Lejeune stands out for its commitment to viticulture that respects its terroirs. The estate carries on traditional winemaking know-how while preserving the authentic expression of its vines, spread across several prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from the "En Remagnien" climat, a fine plot located within the Monthélie appellation, neighbouring the famous villages of Volnay and Meursault. The vines benefit from excellent sun exposure and grow on clay-limestone soils typical of the region, promoting vine vitality and grape quality.

    The vintage

The year 2023 was marked by contrasting weather conditions, though particularly mild and favourable during the crucial ripening and harvest periods. This vintage thus produced grapes in excellent health with outstanding phenolic ripeness.

    Winemaking and aging

True to the estate's traditional methods, the winemaking of this Monthélie Village "En Remagnien" 2023 favours whole-cluster fermentation, a signature of the property, preserving the stems to bring additional aromatic complexity and structure. The wine is then given careful aging in French oak barrels to delicately round out the texture without masking the brightness of the fruit.
