Domaine Philippe Alliet: the authentic expression of Cabernet Franc in the Loire Valley
The estate
Taken over in 1978 by Philippe and Claude Alliet, Domaine Philippe Alliet has become a benchmark in the Loire Valley. Located between Cravant-les-Coteaux and Chinon, this family estate is now co-managed with their son Pierre, who joined the venture in 2011. Renowned for an artisanal approach likened to haute couture, the domaine pursues excellence through a meticulous reading of its terroirs. Buying in no grapes whatsoever, the family crafts wines of true identity that combine tradition and precision, showcasing the region's flagship grape variety with remarkable consistency.
The vineyard
Covering around 18 hectares in the heart of the Chinon appellation, the vineyard is made up of a mosaic of terroirs. The vines used for this cuvée, with an average age of 40 years and a due south exposure, thrive on gravelly sandy soils. This warm, free-draining terroir promotes optimal ripening of the berries. The vineyard is managed with respect for the environment, following sustainable farming practices, and the harvest is carried out exclusively by hand in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit.
Winemaking and ageing
Crafted with great precision, this wine is vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks. The same approach is maintained throughout ageing, which lasts twelve months in these same vessels. This method preserves the radiance of the fruit, the aromatic purity and the natural freshness of the wine, free from any oak influence.
Grape variety
This wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc.
