    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault "Village" 2023 Domaine Pierre Morey

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful pale yellow hue, brightened by subtle green highlights.

    Nose
The nose reveals great aromatic complexity, blending notes of white flowers, citrus zest and exotic fruits. The whole is underscored by a delicate brioche touch and a mineral thread.

    Palate
On the palate, the wine offers a remarkable balance between fine acidity and refined minerality. Ageing on the lees brings a slightly creamy texture, leading to a persistent, generous and elegant finish.

    Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs perfectly with foie gras, roast poultry or guinea fowl with morels. It is also a wonderful match for shellfish such as lobster or langoustines in cream sauce, as well as fatty fish like salmon or trout.

    Service and Storage
For optimal tasting, this Meursault "Village" 2023 should be served at a temperature between 12 and 14°C, preferably in a Burgundy-style glass. Extended decanting is not recommended, in order to preserve its aromatic finesse. This cellar-worthy wine can be enjoyed now or cellared until around 2033.

The Authentic Expression of a White Burgundy Wine

    The Estate
Founded in 1971, Domaine Pierre Morey is an essential landmark located in Burgundy, France. Spanning 10 hectares, the estate is now co-managed by Pierre Morey and his daughter Anne Morey. A pioneer of environmentally responsible viticulture, the estate began its conversion to organic farming as early as 1991, before being certified biodynamic in the early 2000s. Descended from a family that has lived in the village since 1793, the current generation carries on a meticulous know-how, favouring the authentic expression of the terroir through minimal-intervention winemaking.

    The Vineyard
This wine from Meursault is crafted from a blend of three distinct plots (Les Forges, Les Pellans and Les Chaumes), covering a total area of 0.86 hectares. With an average vine age of 37 years, the vines thrive on soils composed of limestone, marl, gravel and small stones. Benefiting from an east and south exposure, this terroir favours optimal ripening of the grapes, which are harvested by hand.

    The Vintage
2023 enjoyed highly favourable weather conditions. A mild spring was followed by a sunny summer period, allowing the berries to reach balanced ripeness while avoiding excessive heat.

    Winemaking and Aging
The winemaking of the Meursault "Village" 2023 is distinguished by an extended cold fermentation to preserve the delicacy of the aromas. The three plots are vinified and aged separately before the final blend. The wine is then aged on the lees for around 18 months in oak barrels, with the proportion of new wood deliberately limited to under 40% to respect the identity of the terroir.

    Grape Variety
    100% Chardonnay.
