The Elegance and Mineral Purity of a White Wine from Morey-Saint-Denis

    The Estate
Founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, Domaine Dujac is a landmark name in Burgundy. Initially spanning 5 hectares, the estate now extends over a 17.5-hectare vineyard spread across prestigious appellations. A pioneer in environmental approaches, the estate stands out for its sustainable viticultural practices and its constant quest to express terroir. Today, the future of Domaine Dujac lies in the hands of the new generation, led by Jeremy, Alec and Diana Snowden Seysses, who carry on the family philosophy with passion while bringing their own technical vision.

    The Vineyard
Located in France, in the Côte de Nuits, the Morey-Saint-Denis vineyard rests on complex clay-limestone soils dating back to the Middle Jurassic. The east-facing plots range in elevation from 220 to 270 metres, sitting atop white oolitic limestone, crinoidal limestone, and more marl-rich soils. Certified organic since 2011, the estate also incorporates biodynamic practices. The ecosystem is preserved through the use of plant-based herbal teas, composts, cover crops, and vine work guided by the lunar calendar.

    The Vintage
The growing cycle of 2023 was marked by abundant rainfall throughout the growing season. These weather conditions favoured the development of particularly generous-sized clusters. The harvest proceeded without major issues, beginning on September 1st and ending on September 15th, with a brief pause at the start of the month.

    Winemaking and Aging
For this Morey-Saint-Denis Village Domaine 2023, fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts. The white wines ferment in barrels and remain on their lees to develop a lovely textural complexity. The wine is transferred by gravity into French oak barrels, 40% of which are new for this village-level appellation. Aging lasts between 14 and 18 months. Finally, the wine is bottled without any fining or filtration.
