    Description

The depth and finesse of a Burgundy red wine

    The estate

Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in the village of Nuits, Domaine Faiveley is one of the grandest estates in the Côtes de Nuits. Today run by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the 7th generation of the family, this illustrious house provides wine-lovers with a superb range reflecting with precision all the mosaic of Burgundy terroirs.

    The vineyard

Though the Faiveley estate was historically deployed in Côtes de Nuits in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the house has extended its vineyard to Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. The Faiveley estate now owns 12 Grand Crus and 25 Premier Crus in Burgundy and oversees an exceptional wine-growing heritage.

Since 1874, the Faiveley family has held the monopoly on "Clos des Cortons Faiveley", which is both the jewel of the estate and one of only two Grand Crus in Burgundy to bear the name of its owner (the second being Romanée-Conti). This monopoly extends across 2.76 hectares facing east and south-east. These Corton wines come from vines planted in 1936, 1956, 1965, 1967, 1971, 1981, 1987 and 2002 on ferruginous oolite and marl soils.

    Winemaking and ageing

Manual harvest. The grapes undergo a short pre-fermentation maceration, then are vinified in tapered stainless steel vats for 3 weeks with vertical pressing. The ageing takes place for 16 to 18 months, in French oak barrels.

    Grape variety

    Pinot Noir (100%)
