Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Faiveley's 2014 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very perfumed bouquet with pure dark plum, bergamot and pressed rose petal aromas that filter from the glass. Wonderful. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, tensile from the start with hints of bay leaf and spice toward the structured and persistent finish. This is a very strong showing from Faiveley, a really marvelous Mazis-Chambertin for the long-haul. Tasted September 2017.

Lovely aroma of pure dark cherry, with a touch of spice. Very inviting. Beautifully balanced between the scented cherry fruit and tannins that are compact but not at all intrusive even now. Relatively lightweight on the mid palate but persistent nevertheless. (JH)

Good volume, full and broad, plenty of wine. A slightly dry finish.

The fine texture makes it very appealing, while the firm finish gives it a solid backbone. Longer than it is broad.
