    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Philia by Guillemette Ferrando 2024 from Famille Isabel Ferrando

    Tasting

    Appearance
The colour of this red wine reveals a deep ruby hue, adorned with subtle violet highlights.

    Nose
The nose opens with delicate aromas of wild strawberry, fresh raspberry and black cherry. It then develops floral notes of peony, intertwined with hints of pomegranate, apricot, tea leaf and damp foliage.

    Palate
From the very first sip, the palate reveals remarkable freshness. Lively and energetic, it showcases a tannic structure of striking finesse and lovely smoothness. A complex aromatic palette emerges, echoing cherry, peony and pomegranate, rounded out by nuances of apricot and tea.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with white meats such as herb-roasted poultry or veal fillet. It also complements a rack of lamb, duck breast with red berries, Mediterranean dishes like slow-cooked ratatouille, as well as soft-rind cheeses such as brie or camembert beautifully.

    Serving and Cellaring

To fully appreciate the Philia by Guillemette Ferrando 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 16°C, after letting it breathe for an hour or briefly decanting it. This wine can be enjoyed after a few years of ageing and will continue to evolve until around 2036.

The Liveliness and Delicacy of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape Wine

    The Estate

Established in 1930 under the name Saint-Préfert, the estate was acquired by Isabel Ferrando in 2002. Located in France, in the Rhône Valley, the property was renamed Famille Isabel Ferrando in 2020. Today, Isabel Ferrando runs the estate alongside her daughter Guillemette Ferrando, co-manager since 2023. The vineyard spans 32 hectares and is distinguished by its commitment to biodynamics and to showcasing ancient grape varieties. Family heritage and the pursuit of contemporary elegance have earned this house its international renown.

    The Vineyard

The vines dedicated to this cuvée thrive in the Serres area, south of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This historic terroir, particularly hot and dry, rests on highly draining soils composed of rolled pebbles on the surface, gravel, sand and a deeper layer of blue clay. The entire vineyard is farmed with the utmost respect for the environment, holding both organic and biodynamic certifications.

    Winemaking and Ageing

The production of the Philia by Guillemette Ferrando 2024 favours a very gentle extraction. The grapes are hand-harvested, followed by partial whole-cluster vinification. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats through infusion, using exclusively indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in large wooden casks and concrete vats, preserving the brightness of the fruit and aromatic freshness without imparting any woody character.

    Grape Varieties

This wine is a blend of Counoise (50%), Grenache (30%) and Cinsault (20%).
