    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for L'Andéol 2024 from Famille Perrin

    Food and Wine Pairings

This wine pairs beautifully with robust slow-cooked meats, such as lamb daube or braised beef cheeks, as well as dishes based on polenta. It is also an excellent match for feathered game, such as a cut of venison, and goes well with mature goat's cheeses, such as a picodon drizzled with olive oil.

    Serving and Cellaring

L'Andéol 2024 is best enjoyed served at around 18°C (64°F), in tasting glasses suited to red wines, alongside rustic, flavourful cuisine.

A Rasteau of Powerful, Sun-Drenched Character, Crafted by Famille Perrin

    The Estate

The history of the Famille Perrin at Beaucastel began in 1909, when Pierre Tramier acquired Château de Beaucastel in the southern Rhône Valley. Over five generations, the family has expanded across several vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and the Côtes-du-Rhône, from its headquarters in Orange. A pioneer of organic farming from the mid-20th century and of biodynamics in the 1970s, and a member of Primum Familiae Vini, the house remains an independent family-owned business, with wines now found in many countries.

    The Vineyard

The L'Andéol cuvée comes from a small vineyard farmed under a tenant-farming lease by Famille Perrin, located in the south of the Rasteau appellation. The plots enjoy a full southern exposure, slightly sheltered from the mistral, ideal for Grenache to reach full ripeness. The soil is made up of ancient pebbly terraces resting on sandy marls and Pliocene-era clays, providing both good drainage and a water reserve that helps keep the vines in balance.

    Winemaking and Ageing

For L'Andéol 2024, part of the harvest is vinified as whole bunches while the rest is destemmed, with controlled temperatures and extraction carried out through punching down and pumping over to preserve the freshness of the fruit. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for around a year, mainly in vats and foudres, to refine its texture while preserving the aromatic purity of the terroir.

    Grape Varieties

Grenache largely dominates the blend, bringing body, ripeness and aromatic power. Syrah, present as a complement, contributes to the wine's structure and spicy freshness.
