The estate
The Frescobaldi family, an iconic figure in Tuscan viticulture, has been carrying on ancestral know-how in the lands of Montalcino for over ten centuries. Major players in the Florentine Renaissance, the Frescobaldi contributed to the city’s cultural flourishing by participating in the construction of remarkable buildings such as the Ponte Santa Trinita and the Basilica of Santo Spirito. The Tenuta Luce della Vite, one of the family estates, embodies this tradition of excellence today through cuvées that are emblematic of the Italian wine landscape.

The vineyard
Located southwest of Montalcino, Tenuta Luce della Vite spans 192 hectares, 55 of which are dedicated to the vineyard. With an elevation ranging from 350 to 420 meters, the estate benefits from ideal conditions for producing high-altitude wines. The soils, composed of pebbles, sediments, and clays, are low in organic matter but rich in minerals, promoting an intense expression of the terroir. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are planted on the lower plots, characterized by clayey soils and well exposed on the south-facing slopes.

Vinification and aging
Vinification of this Tuscan wine takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a ten-day fermentation followed by a twenty-day maceration. The malolactic fermentation occurs in tanks, before a twelve-month aging in barrels, imparting complexity and suppleness to the wine.

Blend
This Lucente 2023 from Frescobaldi - Tenuta Luce della Vite is a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese.
