The estate
Founded in 1859 by the cooper Jean-Édouard Dupard, the Jean Chartron estate is a historic name in Burgundy, France, located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. In 1873, the family played a major role in adding the name "Montrachet" to the village of Puligny. Now run by the fifth generation, Jean-Michel Chartron and his sister Anne-Laure, the estate tends around 14.5 hectares of vines. Renowned for its prestigious monopoles, the domaine combines family tradition with environmentally friendly practices to reveal the authenticity of its terroirs.
The vineyard
This Burgundy wine comes from plots at an altitude of around 353 metres, benefiting from a microclimate ideally sheltered from northerly winds. The vines thrive on clay-limestone soils enriched with siliceous sand, which provide excellent drainage. The estate favours environmentally friendly viticulture, following organic principles without certification. The soils are tended without any chemical herbicides, thereby encouraging biodiversity and the vitality of the terroir.
The vintage
The 2025 vintage in Burgundy was shaped by contrasting weather, alternating between spells of summer heat and cooler periods. These conditions made it possible to achieve an excellent level of ripeness while preserving optimal acidity. The vintage therefore stands out for its remarkable balance, combining good concentration in the grapes with great freshness.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes for the Bourgogne Pinot Noir "Cuvée Eugénie Dupard" 2025 are harvested entirely by hand, followed by rigorous sorting of the berries. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in wooden vats, encouraging gentle micro-oxygenation. Extraction is carried out delicately, exclusively through pumping over with no punching down, during a maceration of around three weeks. The wine is then aged for twelve months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new and 75% between one and five years old.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
