    Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for Chablis 1er cru "Fourchaume" 2024 Jean-Marc Brocard

    Tasting

    Appearance
Clear and brilliant, the wine displays a lovely green-gold hue.

    Nose
Remarkably fresh, the bouquet reveals subtle toasty notes that blend harmoniously with aromas of citrus fruit and white flowers, along with a mineral touch reminiscent of flint.

    Palate
Refined and elegant, the palate charms with its suppleness and roundness. It unfolds delicious notes of candied lemon, carried by a deeply mineral and saline structure that stretches into a beautifully persistent finish.

    Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs beautifully with fine fish such as sole meunière, as well as seafood or grilled shellfish. It will also elevate poultry or white meats served with a cream sauce.

    Serving and cellaring

For optimal enjoyment, this Chablis 1er cru "Fourchaume" 2024 is best served at a temperature between 10 and 14°C. This age-worthy wine can be enjoyed now or cellared to develop until around 2036.

The elegance and minerality of a great white wine from Chablis

    The estate

Officially founded in 1974 in Préhy, the Jean-Marc Brocard estate has established itself as a true benchmark in Burgundy. Now spanning a vast vineyard of 150 to 200 hectares, this large family house stands out for its pioneering environmental commitment. Under the leadership of Julien Brocard, the current owner, the estate farms a significant share of its vines organically and biodynamically. The estate is dedicated to producing authentic wines, favouring minimal intervention so that the purity and minerality of its terroirs can express themselves to the full.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from the renowned Fourchaume climat, located on the right bank of the Serein, in the heart of the Chablis appellation. This premier cru terroir enjoys excellent exposure and rests on typical Kimmeridgian soils, made up of marl and limestone rich in marine fossils. What sets this plot apart is the presence of fertile alluvial deposits left by the river, which give the grapes optimal ripeness and the wine a particularly charming, easy-drinking character.

    Vinification and ageing

The Chablis 1er cru "Fourchaume" 2024 is crafted with the utmost respect for the raw material. In the cellar, transfers are carried out by gravity to prevent any oxidation. Fermentation is initiated with indigenous yeasts, followed by natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged on its lees for around fourteen months, with 70% in large oak casks to add complexity and 30% in stainless steel tanks to preserve all its freshness.

    Grape variety

    100% Chardonnay.
