There’s real concentration to the dried blackberry fruit leather, amply brushed with sweet oak polish that will integrate with time. Cigar box, juniper and sweet tobacco leaf notes chime in through the salty, dense finish, which shows solid grip. Hints of olive paste and iodine add an old-school feel to the chewy finish as this stretches way out. Best from 2026 through 2040. 200 cases made, 6 cases imported.

A wine first made in 2018, the 2022 Côte-Rôtie Côte Bodin launches with Brettanomyces-inflicted leather and barnyard traits, complemented by black cherry, vanilla and cedar touches. Medium-bodied and rustic, the 2022 checks out with an astringent finish.

    Description

    Characteristics and tasting advice for Jean-Michel Gérin's Côte-Bodin 2022

    Tasting

A vibrant wine, imbued with minerality, revealing remarkable energy.

A Rhône Valley wine of remarkable finesse

    The property

Among the emblematic figures of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin stands out as one of the most fervent ambassadors of Côte-Rôtie. Heir to a lineage of winemakers established for six generations, Jean-Michel Gerin founded his own estate in 1983, before reviving the family estate under his name. Thanks to his exemplary dedication and unanimously recognized talent, he has managed to elevate his estate to the rank of a global reference.

    The vineyard

Located in the heart of the prestigious Côte-Rôtie vineyard, in the charming village of Ampuis, this exceptional terroir is 30 km south of Lyon, marking the northern limit of the Rhône Valley. Benefiting from a dual climatic influence, Mediterranean and continental, it produces wines of remarkable balance, combining power, structured tannins, silkiness and elegance.

    Vinification and aging

This wine has undergone an aging process of 22 months, divided between 20% new barrels and 80% barrels that have been used for 1, 2 or 3 wines.
