La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet 2016

Black fruits are joined by a cooling freshness. This isn't quite up to the standard of the legendary 2010, where even the second wine was unmissable, but it's good value with some lovely crunchy fruit. A smart buy.

Tight and focused with blackcurrant, walnut and dark-chocolate aromas and flavors. Medium body, fine tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows excellence for the second wine of Sociando. Drink after 2022.

The 2016 La Demoiselle Sociando Mallet offers good immediacy, but then loses some of its focus and delineation. Drink this fruity second wine over the next year or two.

Powerful aromas of jammy black fruits, cocoa and leather; a straightforward palate with firm, vigorous tannins and great freshness on the finish. Plenty of potential.
