    James Suckling

A supple, sleek and inky red showing walnut, black currant, blackberry leaf and nutmeg aromas. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and precise, with tight-grained tannins. Try from 2024.

    Yves Beck

The freshness of the vintage and the Cabernet Sauvignon is noticeable right from the start! The wine shows a juicy, slightly creamy character. It may not have great depth, but its tannins provide solid support, working in tandem with the acidity. A fresh, slender wine to enjoy in its youth.

Light wine with a tasty, pleasant palate and no acidity. Medium length.

    Description

An Haut-Médoc second wine entices with balance and aromatic richness

    The estate

Château Sociando-Mallet is an estate of 83 hectares, dominant in the Gironde estuary area. This property, located on Bordeaux’s Left Bank is one of the finest non-classified wines of the Médoc.

    The vineyard

The vines, on average 25 years old, are planted on a a terroir of gravel and clay with a limestone subsoil. The vineyard is cultivated in a traditional way, without anti-Botrytis treatments and with a fair use of organic fertilisation.

    The wine

Produced in the Haut-Médoc appellation, La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet 2021 is the château’s second wine. This cuvée takes its name from a type of dragonfly which lives in the Médoc.

    Winemaking and ageing

Harvested by hand, the grapes were subjected to a selection on the table before and after destemming. The traditional winemaking and the malolactic fermentation took place in cement and stainless steel thermo-regulated tanks. This Bordeaux wine was vatted for 25 days then matured in new barrels over a period of 12 months.

    Blend

La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet 2021 is a blend of merlot (84%) and cabernet sauvignon (16%).
