    Description

The refinement and balance of a Second White Wine from Pessac-Léognan

    The property

Located at the gates of Bordeaux, the Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest wine estates in the region, with the first harvest taking place in 1252. Château Pape Clément owes its name to Pope Clement V who passionately managed his vineyard before donating it to the Archbishop of Bordeaux. At that time, it was referred to as the "Vines of Pope Clement". In 1983, Bernard Magrez, the tireless builder and composer of rare wines, bought the property. Bernard Magrez, who now owns 4 Grands Crus Classés in Bordeaux, uses all his energy and determination to elevate Château Pape Clément to the elite of Bordeaux's Grands Crus. In 2009, Château Pape Clément was notably rewarded with a score of 100/100 by American critic Robert Parker.

    The vineyard

The Clémentin de Pape Clément 2013 white is a Pessac-Léognan wine from a 7.5-hectare terroir, with vines averaging 27 years old planted on Pyrenean clayey gravel soils.

    Vinification and aging

After filling the fully manual pneumatic press, the pressing is carried out in whole grains. The juice from the press is gravity-fed into barrels. Settling then vinification in barrels. Aging for 15 months on fine lees in barrels (55% new, 35% of one wine) and 10% in cement egg.

    Blend

This Clémentin de Pape Clément 2013 is made from a blend of sémillon (50%), sauvignon blanc (33%), muscadelle (16%) and sauvignon gris (1%).
