Château Baret : Key Points

Château Baret traces its origins back to the 4th century. Although this estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation belonged for several generations to the Seigneurs de Baret, a family of merchants and shipowners, Ballande acquired the estate in 1867. Following a fire at the beginning of the 20th century, the charterhouse was enlarged, and major restructuring work was carried out in both the vineyard and the winery.

The Château Baret vineyard covers 25.80 hectares to the east of Bordeaux. With an average age of 25 years, the vines are planted on Garonne gravel and clay-limestone subsoil, guaranteeing ideal drainage and deep rooting.

The estate has been awarded level 3 High Environmental Value certification since the 2018 vintage, confirming its commitment to an environmentally-friendly approach that began in 2016.

21.70 hectares are dedicated to producing Château Baret red and 4.10 hectares to producing Château Baret white.
