    Description

The richness and structure of a Saint-Émilion second wine

    The estate

Château Laroque, erected on its limestone plateau, dominates the prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation. This Grand Cru Classé has been a stronghold of the region for more than nine centuries and still has the largest wine estate in Saint-Émilion.

    The vineyard

Château Laroque is a Saint-Émilion wine from a vineyard of 61 hectares of mass-selected old vines. Resting on plateaus of asteries limestone, typical of this appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, the vines benefit from sun exposure to the east and west, on soils of very calcareous, fine bluish clays.

    The wine

If the vines, on average 50 years old, are designated for the production of first label wine, Les Tours de Laroque, the property’s second wine, comes from a rigorous selection from vineyards 30-years-old or less.

    Winemaking and ageing

Harvests by hand are carried out in accordance with each terroir. The first racking after three to four months of ageing is followed by a second over the following winter.

    Blend

    Merlot (96%)
    Cabernet franc (4%).
