    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Côte de Nuits-Villages "Le Vaucrain" Domaine Louis Jadot 2022

    Tasting notes

    Appearance
The wine reveals a lovely red hue of medium depth, at once bright and appealing.

    Nose
Elegant and pleasantly fragrant, the bouquet unveils aromas of small red and black fruits such as raspberry, blackberry and redcurrant, subtly underlined by hints of liquorice.

    Palate
The palate seduces with its silky texture and finely-grained tannins. Medium-bodied, it offers a superb balance between zesty freshness and the brightness of the fruit, extending into a finale with a perfectly respectable length.

    Food and wine pairings

This red wine pairs beautifully with grilled, roasted or sauced red meats, as well as with traditional slow-cooked dishes such as a boeuf bourguignon. Its delicacy also makes it a fine companion to refined game, contemporary recipes such as a beef tataki, or a beautiful platter of aged cheeses.

    Serving and cellaring

This wine is particularly approachable in its youth and will offer optimal tasting until around 2027.

The authentic expression of a Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits

    The estate

Founded in 1859 in the heart of Beaune, Maison Louis Jadot stands as an emblematic figure of Burgundy. Historically led by the Gagey family and now chaired by Thomas Seiter, the estate has belonged to the Kobrand group since 1985. With an extensive vineyard spanning numerous appellations, the house distinguishes itself through its deep respect for terroirs and a rigorous environmental approach. Recognisable by their famous labels adorned with Bacchus, the wines shine internationally while preserving an authentic Burgundian identity.

    The vineyard

The "Le Vaucrain" climat is located in the commune of Comblanchien, in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation. This parcel rests on limestone and marl-limestone soils. Here, the estate grows the Pinot Noir dedicated to this cuvée, following a sustainable viticultural philosophy aimed at limiting inputs and favouring the natural expression of the terroir.

    Winemaking and aging

Winemaking begins with alcoholic fermentation in vats lasting three to four weeks, allowing a gentle extraction of colour and aromas. The wine then benefits from meticulous aging in oak barrels for 10 to 12 months prior to bottling, bringing subtle complexity without masking the brightness of the fruit.
