    James Suckling

A very impressive nose with plenty of lemon and grapefruit on offer, as well as hazelnutty oak influence and some stony nuances. Very rich and quite exotic fruit on the palate, in the peach, nectarine and mango spectrum. Well-cast oak warms and spices up the finish. Complex and generous Bâtard. Drink or hold.

    Bettane+Desseauve

Perfect integration of oak (rare these days), true grand style with no reduction or greenness, plenty of potential. It would be a crime to drink it too early!

The 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is performing well from bottle, bursting with aromas of orange oil, honeyed pears and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, rich and muscular while remaining lively and succulent, it's already drinking well.

    Description

A rich and complex white wine from Burgundy

    The estate

The largest wine estate in Burgundy, Domaine Louis Latour boasts a winemaking history spanning more than 200 years. Spread across the finest Premier and Grand Cru plots from the Côte de Beaune to the Côte de Nuits, the 50-hectare vineyard of Domaine Louis Latour produces a range of wines from 130 appellations, each expressing the character of its terroir with authenticity and refinement. Since 1996, Domaine Louis Latour has been actively committed to conscientious, environmentally friendly viticulture.

    The vineyard

This Louis Latour cuvée is a Bâtard-Montrachet wine from an 11.86-hectare vineyard. This terroir lies between the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Both are renowned for producing prestigious wines.

This vineyard is separated from the famous Montrachet Grand Cru plot by a narrow strip of land. East-facing, this exceptional terroir rests on predominantly gravelly clay soil, which gives the wine an aromatic expression of great refinement.

    Winemaking and ageing

Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in oak barrels, a choice that brings additional aromatic complexity to the wine. Aged in oak barrels for 8 to 12 months.
