    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Bâtard-Montrachet 2024 Louis Latour

    Tasting notes

    Colour
Brilliant, the colour reveals a delicate pale yellow hue.

    Nose
Intense and expressive, the aromatic bouquet reveals notes of almond paste and toasted hazelnuts, subtly underlined by vanilla touches from the oak.

    Palate
The palate seduces with its roundness and remarkable freshness. It is built around a delicate minerality that lends fine structure and great complexity to the whole.

    Food and wine pairing

This great white wine pairs beautifully with refined, textured dishes such as pan-seared scallops, saffron-poached monkfish or lobster Thermidor. It will also be a perfect match for regional Burgundian cuisine as well as characterful cheeses.

    Service and storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Bâtard-Montrachet 2024 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. With its fine structure, it can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2039.

The elegance and minerality of a great white Burgundy

    The estate

Officially founded in 1797, the Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. Based in Aloxe-Corton, it oversees an estate of 48 hectares, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru, making it the largest such holding in the region. Currently led by Florent Latour, the family estate stands out for its pioneering commitment to sustainable viticulture and for owning its own cooperage. Blending respect for tradition with a spirit of innovation, the estate shines today on the world stage.

    The vineyard

Located between the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, the Bâtard-Montrachet terroir spreads across gentle east- and south-facing slopes, at an altitude ranging from 240 to 250 metres. The vines thrive on deep, gravelly soils resting on a Jurassic limestone bedrock. The estate notably cultivates the distinctive "Clos Poirier" parcel, recognisable by its unusual north-south orientation.

    The vintage

The year 2024 proved particularly challenging from a weather standpoint. The growing season was marked by late frosts, followed by destructive hail events, before culminating in heavy rainfall in September. While these climatic conditions drastically reduced yields, extremely rigorous sorting during the harvest helped preserve the sanitary quality and freshness of the berries.

    Winemaking and aging

The making of this Bâtard-Montrachet 2024 follows traditional methods. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels and is accompanied by complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 8 to 10 months in entirely new French oak barrels, crafted and given a medium toast by the estate's own cooperage.
