    The estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, Louis Latour is the largest holder of Grands Crus in Burgundy's Côte d'Or with approximately 28.63 hectares. Managed by the eleventh generation of the family, this independent house owns vineyards in the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. A pioneer of modern winemaking methods since the 19th century, the house combines tradition and modernity in its historic cellars in Beaune.

    The vineyard

Clos du Roi constitutes a small 13-hectare plot in the north of the Beaune appellation. This historic terroir, once owned by the Dukes of Burgundy and later the French Crown, benefits from a south/south-east exposure on clay-limestone soils. The vines, which are 30 years old on average, are farmed traditionally, with yields of 40 hl/ha and manual harvesting.

    Winemaking and ageing

Vinification is traditional in open vats with complete malolactic fermentation. Ageing takes place for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels with medium toasting from the Louis Latour cooperage, 35% of which are new.
