The elegance and power of a Burgundy Grand Cru by Louis Latour

    The estate
Founded in 1768 in Aloxe-Corton, the Louis Latour house is a true institution in Burgundy. With its 48 hectares of vines, of which 27 are classified as Grand Cru, the estate owns the largest area of these exceptional terroirs in the region. Now led by Louis-Fabrice Latour, representing the eleventh generation, the family estate carries on an ancestral expertise while expanding the brand's international reach. Committed to sustainable viticulture, this historic house produces wines recognised for their outstanding quality.

    The vineyard
Located at the heart of the illustrious terroirs of the Côte de Nuits, the Chambertin plot extends over 0.81 hectare in a single block. Acquired at the end of the 19th century and passed down through inheritance, it consists of vines with an average age of 35 years. They thrive on a clay-based Bajocian subsoil, covered with a chalky topsoil mixed with gravel and clay. The estate practises meticulous viticulture there, with controlled yields of around 30 hl/ha and exclusively manual harvesting.

    The vintage
The year was marked by demanding climatic conditions, beginning with a cold winter followed by a slow spring development. The moderate temperatures throughout the summer season, however, allowed a slow and extended ripening of the berries, providing ideal conditions to preserve the freshness of the grapes.

    Vinification and ageing
The making of the Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée Héritiers Latour" 2008 begins with a traditional fermentation in open vats, followed by a malolactic fermentation carried out at 100%. The wine then benefits from ageing for 10 to 12 months in entirely new French oak barrels. These barrels, from the house's own cooperage and with a medium toast, gently support the wine through its maturation.

    Grape variety
    Pinot Noir (100%).
