    James Suckling

The blackberry, black-truffle and wet-earth aromas are impressive for the vintage. Medium- to full-bodied, tight and focused with lovely tannin tension and freshness. Pretty acidity at the end. Tasted just before bottling. Drink after 2022.

    Bruce Sanderson

Broad-shouldered and spicy, featuring core flavors of cherry, currant and tobacco that are graced by leafy, vegetal notes and dense tannins. Youthful and fresh, this is balanced in an oversized way, showing fine potential. Best from 2024 through 2039. 75 cases imported.

    The estate

Established in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, Louis Latour draws its roots from a Burgundian family tradition dating back to 1731. Now led by the eleventh generation of the Latour family, the house perpetuates the custom whereby each head bears the first name Louis. A pioneer of modern winemaking techniques since the 19th century, the estate cultivates exceptional vineyards in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Its historic cellars in Beaune preserve two centuries of winemaking expertise, combining innovation with respect for ancestral traditions.

    The vineyard

The Chambertin appellation lies at the heart of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, on an exceptional terroir renowned for its unique geological richness. The Latour family owns 0.81 hectares in a single plot, closer to Latricières than to Clos de Bèze. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are rooted in a Bajocian clay subsoil topped with shallow limestone soils mixed with gravel and clay.

    Winemaking and aging

Hand-harvested, followed by traditional vinification in open vats and a complete malolactic fermentation. Aging lasts 10 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage with a medium toast, bringing structure and complexity to the wine.

    Grape variety

    100% Pinot Noir.
