A Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru from an exceptional terroir

    The estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour after the French Revolution, the Louis Latour House remains an essential reference in the Burgundian wine heritage. Based in Aloxe-Corton and now run by Louis-Fabrice Latour, eleventh generation, this independent family-run House farms 48 hectares of vines, including 27 hectares in Grand Cru, forming the largest Grands Crus estate in Burgundy. It stands out for having its own cooperage since 1768.

    The vineyard

The climat "Cailleret" is considered among the finest Premier Cru terroirs of Chassagne-Montrachet. Its name comes from the word "caille" meaning stones, in reference to its location on a rocky, stony hillside with excellent exposure. This privileged setting allows the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, are rooted in clay-limestone soils. Average yields are limited to 40 hl/ha and harvesting is carried out by hand.

    Winemaking and aging

The winemaking of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Cailleret" 2022 follows traditional methods, with fermentation in oak barrels and full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new oak. The barrels come from the Louis Latour cooperage and receive a medium toast, ensuring complete control over the aging of this exceptional wine.
