    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Grande Montagne" 2024 Louis Latour

    Tasting

    Colour
This white wine reveals a pale yellow hue with a brilliant luminosity.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out for its elegance, releasing scents of acacia blossom and brioche. These are joined by subtle notes of vanilla, coconut, honeysuckle and fresh almond.

    Palate
The palate offers a structure that is both round and generous, while retaining fine precision. Flavours of fresh almond and honey linger at length, complemented by touches of mango and toasted hazelnut, along with a mineral thread that leads into a wonderfully fresh finish.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs perfectly with seafood and shellfish such as lobster or langoustine, as well as with grilled fish or fish in creamy sauces. It also goes wonderfully well with creamed poultry dishes and lightly matured goat's cheese or hard cheeses.

The Elegance and Precision of a White Wine from the Côte de Beaune

    The Estate

Founded in 1797 and based in Aloxe-Corton, the House of Louis Latour is a historic figure in Burgundy. This independent family estate spans 48 hectares of vines, a significant portion of which are classified as Grand Cru. Currently run by Florent Latour, representing the eleventh generation, the estate stands out for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and for owning its own traditional cooperage. Eléonore Latour, recently appointed brand director, embodies the next generation of this renowned institution.

    The Vineyard

This wine comes from a small, isolated 0.5-hectare plot located at the top of the Chassagne-Montrachet hillside, at an altitude of 310 metres. The vines, averaging around thirty years old, thrive on soils made up of marl and limestone. The estate favours sustainable farming, certified for its environmental management, with particularly well-controlled yields.

    The Vintage

The grapes this year benefited from a growing cycle that allowed for a hand harvest at an optimal stage of ripeness.

    Winemaking and Aging

For the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Grande Montagne" 2024, the grapes are sorted and then pressed directly without crushing, in order to preserve the delicacy of the aromas. Alcoholic fermentation and complete malolactic fermentation take place traditionally in oak barrels. Aging then lasts between 8 and 10 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new with a medium toast, all crafted by the estate's own cooperage.
