A Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru with Floral Aromas and Beautiful Tension

The estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour, the Maison Louis Latour carries on a Burgundian family tradition dating back to 1731. An independent estate run by the Latour family, it is the largest Grand Cru domaine in the Côte d'Or with emblematic parcels in Corton, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Chambertin. Historically based in Aloxe-Corton, the Maison extends across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. Its originality lies in the unique alliance of cooperage and viticulture, preserving artisanal know-how passed down through eight generations in Bourgogne.

The vineyard

The climat "Les Chenevottes" is located slightly higher on the hillside than the Grand Cru Le Montrachet, in the appellation Chassagne-Montrachet. This terroir shows remarkable similarities with Le Montrachet in its clay-limestone soil composition, its southern exposure and its aromatic profile. The name "Chenevottes" comes from the Old French "cheneve" meaning hemp, as this parcel was once a hemp field. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, are cultivated on this exceptional terroir with a controlled yield of 40 hl/ha and manual harvesting.

Winemaking and Aging

Winemaking takes place in oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 8 to 10 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, 50% of which are new, from the Louis Latour cooperage. This method preserves the expression of the terroir while bringing an elegant structure to the wine.

Grape Variety

This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay, the emblematic grape variety of Bourgogne's great white wines.
