The elegance of a great Burgundy wine by Louis Latour

    The estate
Officially founded in 1797, the Louis Latour house is a true institution in Burgundy. This independent, family-run estate, now led by Florent Latour, oversees a vineyard of around 50 hectares, including an exceptional share of Grands Crus. Historically based in Aloxe-Corton, the property stands out for its long-standing commitment to sustainable viticulture and for owning its very own cooperage. This prestigious brand shines around the world while jealously safeguarding its heritage and ancestral expertise.

    The vineyard
The grapes come from the legendary Clos Vougeot, the largest Grand Cru in the region, enclosed by historic walls. The house's plots, ideally located on the upper sections of the appellation, lie on a mosaic of soils composed of clay, chalk and gravel. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, receive meticulous care with controlled yields of around 35 hl/ha. The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand to ensure optimal grape quality.

    The vintage
The year 2012 was marked by demanding weather conditions. This capricious climate naturally limited the vineyard's yields. Nevertheless, thanks to rigorous work and unwavering attention, this complex growing cycle gave rise to grapes of remarkable quality and beautiful ripeness.

    Vinification and ageing
The making of this Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2012 begins with a traditional fermentation in open vats, followed by a complete malolactic fermentation. The wine then benefits from careful ageing for 10 to 12 months. This process takes place entirely in 100% new French oak barrels, crafted by the house's own cooperage with a medium toast, thus bringing subtle complexity to the wine.

    Grape variety
This cuvée is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
