A vibrant and fruity Burgundy Grand Cru
The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, this family-run Burgundy house upholds a unique heritage combining cooperage and winemaking. Owner of 33 hectares including Corton Grands Crus, Louis Latour stands out for its dual expertise inherited from its cooperage origins. A pioneer in exports since 1815 and a former supplier to European royal courts, the house has remained a benchmark for Burgundy wines since settling on rue des Tonnelliers in Beaune in 1867.
The vineyard
The vines of Corton "Clos du Roi" face due east on the Corton hill, in the village of Aloxe-Corton. They are planted on marl and limestone subsoil that gives the wine its hallmark structure and minerality. Strict pruning allows for late harvesting, ensuring optimal ripeness and richness of the grapes.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking is carried out traditionally in open vats, with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging lasts 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new, sourced from the Louis Latour cooperage with a medium toast.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
