The elegance of a Burgundy Grand Cru crafted by Louis Latour
The estate
Founded in 1797, the Louis Latour House is a true institution in Burgundy. Historically based in Aloxe-Corton, this independent family-owned estate tends a vineyard of approximately 48 hectares, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru, representing the largest area of this rank in the Côte d'Or. Today led by Florent Latour, of the twelfth generation, the brand carries on time-honoured expertise while making a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture. The estate stands out for its ability to faithfully express the richness and diversity of Burgundy's finest terroirs.
The vineyard
The Latricières-Chambertin Climat is located in the prestigious Côte de Nuits, in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, just south of the famous Chambertin plot. This unique terroir rests on shallow, stony soils where the limestone bedrock quickly surfaces, complemented by chalk, gravel and clay. This Grand Cru is renowned for producing wines that are slightly lighter than its illustrious neighbour, while sharing its character. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are tended with great care, with grapes harvested exclusively by hand and yields kept under control at around 35 hl/ha.
Vinification and ageing
The making of the Latricières-Chambertin Grand cru 2016 begins with a traditional fermentation carried out in open vats. Following a 100% malolactic fermentation, the wine benefits from careful ageing lasting 10 to 12 months. This crucial stage takes place in new French oak barrels with medium toasting, meticulously crafted by Louis Latour's own cooperage.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir.
