Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Blagny" Château de Blagny 2023 Louis Latour
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant pale yellow hue, enhanced by luminous glints.
Nose
Highly complex, the bouquet opens with intense aromas of hazelnut, fresh almond and vanilla. It then evolves towards fruity notes of white peach and citrus, complemented by delicate floral touches of honeysuckle and linden blossom, along with a minerality reminiscent of flint.
Palate
This Meursault offers an ample and generous body, supported by a silky texture. Orchard fruit flavours are perfectly balanced by a lively acidity and a saline mineral backbone. The long, chalky finish stands out with a subtly resinous note.
Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with shellfish such as lobster or langoustine, fine fish in creamy sauces like salmon or turbot, and dishes featuring delicate mushrooms. It also elevates soft cheeses, blue cheeses, and foie gras.
Service and Storage
For optimal enjoyment, this Meursault 1er Cru "Blagny" Château de Blagny 2023 is best served at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop in the cellar until at least 2031.

The Estate
Officially founded in 1797, the Louis Latour House is a true institution in Burgundy. Based in Aloxe-Corton, this independent, family-owned estate oversees an exceptional domain of nearly 50 hectares, 27 of which are classified as Grand Cru. Now led by Florent Latour, representing the eleventh generation, supported by his niece Éléonore Latour, the house continues to uphold a historic legacy of expertise. Renowned for its exacting standards and its own cooperage, it stands out for its environmentally responsible viticulture, producing wines that purely express the complexity of their terroirs.
The Vineyard
An exclusive monopole of the house, the Château de Blagny plot overlooks the villages of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. The vines, averaging around thirty years old, thrive on elevated slopes that promote excellent air circulation. The terroir is composed of stony marls and Jurassic limestone, giving the grapes optimal concentration and a unique mineral signature characteristic of Burgundy.
The Vintage
The 2023 vintage falls in line with the region's warm vintages. This growing cycle benefited from mild climatic conditions, resulting in a generous harvest. The grapes were thus able to reach ideal physiological ripeness while retaining lovely freshness.
Winemaking and Aging
The harvest is carried out entirely by hand. The berries undergo direct pressing without skin maceration in order to preserve the finesse of the aromas. Fermentation of this Meursault 1er Cru "Blagny" Château de Blagny 2023 takes place in French oak barrels, accompanied by complete malolactic fermentation. Aging then continues for 8 to 10 months in barrels from the house's own cooperage, comprising 35% new oak and 65% one- to several-wine barrels, with a medium toast.
Grape Variety
Chardonnay (100%).
