    /100

    James Suckling

Very complex white with slate, stone, light petrol, and smoke aromas. Lemon fruit. Full body, yet vivid and intense. Shows some phenolic tension yet brightness and intensity at the end. A gorgeous 2015. Drink or hold.

    La RVF

Very intense, impressive in its combination of purity and ripe fruit, Frédéric Emile takes on a special dimension in 2015, with a bold sunny character that is perfectly integrated: must be cellared.

    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Riesling "Cuvée Frédéric Emile" 2015

    Tasting

    Colour
Brilliant, the straw-yellow hue is adorned with subtle green tints, underlined by a crystalline clarity.

    Nose
Wonderfully deep, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of concentrated citrus, ripe yellow apple and white flowers. It then evolves towards a pronounced minerality, evoking gunflint and slate, rounded off by delicate smoky touches and subtle spices.

    Palate
Full-bodied and concentrated, the palate offers remarkable balance thanks to a finely chiselled acidity that harmonises the natural richness of the vintage. Flavours of candied lemon and stone fruit stretch towards a long, saline and intensely mineral finish.

    Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with fine fish such as turbot or sole, seafood or even caviar. It also goes very well with white meats in creamy sauces, spicy Asian cuisine, as well as characterful cheeses such as a mature Munster.

    Service and storage

To fully appreciate this 2015 vintage, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 13°C. This wine, crafted for the long haul, can be enjoyed now, but will continue to develop in the cellar until around 2035, or even beyond.

    Other characteristics

Despite a slight residual sweetness, this wine retains a resolutely dry and lively profile on the palate, carried by its beautiful natural tension.

The pure and mineral expression of a great Alsace white wine

    The estate

Founded in 1626 in Riquewihr, Maison Trimbach is a true institution in Alsace. Now based in Ribeauvillé, the estate enjoys worldwide renown thanks to its unwavering commitment to balance and purity. The estate relies on its own vineyard of 58 hectares, entirely certified organic. This historic family house crafts wines of remarkable longevity.

    The vineyard

This Alsace wine comes from a blend of two exceptional terroirs overlooking Ribeauvillé: the Grands Crus Geisberg and Osterberg. With an average age of 45 years, the vines flourish on a complex geological mosaic. Geisberg rests on south-facing marl-limestone-sandstone soils, while Osterberg lends its distinctive character from its shelly limestone subsoil. The estate favours rigorous manual work, limited yields and biodiversity-friendly practices.

    The vintage

The year 2015 stood out for its contrasting climatic conditions. After a dry winter and a spring humid enough to allow proper vegetative development, the summer proved particularly hot and sunny. Cool nights during the harvest period helped preserve a fine acidity, resulting in berries of exceptional concentration.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes are hand-harvested before undergoing a very gentle pneumatic pressing. The must is transferred by gravity to preserve aromatic freshness. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks and old foudres, without any malolactic fermentation, in order to maintain optimal tension. After resting on fine lees, the wine undergoes a long bottle aging period in the estate's cellars for five to seven years before its release.
