The elegance and complexity of a great red wine from Languedoc

    The estate

Acquired as a simple farm, Mas de Daumas Gassac saw its winemaking history begin with the creation of the estate in 1970 by Véronique and Aimé Guibert. Located in Languedoc, this singular property quickly established itself as an essential benchmark, often nicknamed the "Grand Cru of the Midi". Today, the estate is run by the Guibert family, and more specifically by brothers Samuel, Gaël, Roman and Basile. The vineyard extends over some fifty hectares, nestled in the heart of a vast forest, illustrating a respectful and unique approach to viticulture.

    The vineyard

Classified as IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, the vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir in the upper Gassac valley. The vines, averaging 45 years of age, are planted in small clearings at around 500 metres of altitude, in the midst of garrigue and Mediterranean forest. This cool microclimate, combined with deep glacial gravel soils resting on a perfectly draining limestone bedrock, allows for slow ripening of the grapes. Vineyard management is geared towards quality, with controlled yields and entirely manual harvests.

    Winemaking and aging

The production of this Languedoc wine is based on traditional methods. After rigorous sorting of the berries, fermentations take place slowly in order to gently extract the material and preserve the expression of the fruit. The wine then benefits from careful aging in French oak barrels, with a limited proportion of new wood, thus ensuring the freshness and aromatic complexity of the cuvée.

    Grape varieties

This wine comes from a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (approximately 78 to 80%), complemented by a mosaic of varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Tannat, Malbec, as well as several rare and ancient grape varieties.
