The Elegance and Freshness of a White Wine from Mas Jullien
The Estate
Founded in 1985 in Jonquières, France, Mas Jullien is a true benchmark of the Languedoc. Still led by its founder, Olivier Jullien, this pioneering estate has contributed greatly to the region's qualitative renewal. The property stands out for its free-spirited approach that respects all living things, favouring organic farming without seeking certification in order to avoid dogma. With an undeniable reputation, the estate crafts authentic, profound wines that faithfully reflect the mosaic of local terroirs.
The Vineyard
Classified as IGP Pays de l'Hérault, the vineyard dedicated to white grape varieties covers approximately five hectares. The vines thrive on a mosaic of varied soils, combining clay-limestone earth, sandstone, silica and gravel. Benefiting from a Mediterranean climate tempered by the cooler altitudes close to the Larzac plateau, this terroir offers ideal diurnal temperature variation. The estate farms its land using demanding practices, without official certification, but with the utmost respect for biodiversity and the environment.
Vinification and Ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand to preserve the integrity of the berries. In the cellar, the estate's philosophy favours measured interventions and the use of indigenous yeasts, allowing the terroir to express itself fully. The making of Mas Jullien 2016 white follows this minimal-intervention approach, resulting in a wine that is at once rich, complex and endowed with remarkable ageing potential.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from a blend of noble grape varieties, including Chenin, Carignan Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Petit Manseng.
