    Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Corton Grand Cru "Clos Rognet" 2022 by Domaine Méo-Camuzet

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a deep ruby-red colour, enhanced by a dazzling brilliance and luminous highlights.

    Nose
The bouquet is remarkably complex, releasing aromas of ripe dark fruits such as blackcurrant and black cherry. Delicate floral notes of faded rose intertwine with refreshing touches of menthol and liquorice, all supported by subtly integrated oak.

    Palate
The attack is generous, with a silky texture. The palate is perfectly structured by tannins that are both firm and remarkably fine. A beautiful mineral tension carries the wine towards a persistent finish, marked by great elegance, spicy nuances and a hint of salinity.

    Food and wine pairing

This powerful and refined red wine pairs ideally with structured, elegant dishes. It will enhance carefully composed dishes that showcase top-quality ingredients and precise cooking.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the 2022 vintage, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 16 and 17 °C, taking care to aerate it one to two hours before tasting. With exceptional ageing potential, this wine will reach its peak between 2030 and 2040 and can be cellared to be enjoyed until around 2045.

The Elegance and Richness of a Great Burgundy Terroir by Domaine Méo-Camuzet

    The estate

Officially established under this name in 1981, Domaine Méo-Camuzet is an emblematic figure of Burgundy, based in Vosne-Romanée. Heir to a viticultural heritage shaped from the early twentieth century by Étienne Camuzet, the estate now extends over 14 hectares. Currently run by Jean-Nicolas Méo, the estate stands out for its precision viticulture, close to organic farming, and a minimal-intervention winemaking philosophy. The estate is renowned worldwide for its ability to express the purity of its prestigious terroirs.

    The vineyard

The Corton Clos Rognet climat covers a small plot of approximately 0.4 hectares, enclosed by old walls and facing due east in the commune of Ladoix-Serrigny. This exceptional terroir rests on shallow clay-limestone soils, rich in gravel and limestone, offering excellent drainage. The vines, planted in 1927 from a high-quality massal selection, benefit from deep rooting and meticulous soil work, sometimes carried out with a horse, promoting a unique mineral expression.

    The vintage

The year 2022 was marked by hot, dry weather conditions. This mild climate allowed the berries to reach excellent ripeness. Thanks to the deep root systems of the very old vines, the plants were able to withstand water stress, resulting in a perfectly balanced growing cycle.

    Winemaking and ageing

The harvest is exclusively by hand, followed by extremely rigorous sorting in the vineyard and then in the cellar. The grapes enter the vats by gravity for a cold pre-fermentation maceration of a few days. Fermentation starts naturally at controlled temperatures, accompanied by moderate pumping over and punching down for gentle extraction. Ageing takes place over a period of approximately seventeen months in oak barrels, 80% of which are new oak from the Bertranges forest. Bottling is carried out by gravity, without fining or filtration.
