    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Corton Grand Cru "Les Perrières" 2022 Méo-Camuzet

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a deep ruby red hue, with a beautiful brilliance that reflects its vitality.

    Nose
The bouquet opens with expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, nutmeg and undergrowth. Subtle woody notes, sweet spices, pepper and liquorice intertwine with a characteristic mineral thread.

    Palate
The attack is both firm and full-bodied, offering a fruity generosity that evolves into a vertical structure. The mid-palate reveals the density expected of a grand cru, while retaining great elegance. Supported by vibrant acidity and silky tannins, the persistent finish stretches out over a saline minerality and delicate citrus notes.

    Food and Wine Pairing
This great red wine will pair wonderfully with fine meats such as beef fillet, roasted squab, or dishes in sauce accompanied by wild mushrooms.

    Service and Storage
Endowed with a remarkable structure, this Corton Grand Cru "Les Perrières" 2022 boasts exceptional aging potential, allowing it to journey through the years in the cellar.

The Refined Mineral Expression of a Great Burgundy Grand Cru

    The Estate
Located at the heart of Burgundy, in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Méo-Camuzet was officially established under this name in 1983, although its winemaking heritage dates back to the early twentieth century. Now led by Jean-Nicolas Méo, the estate spans approximately 21 hectares of vines. The domaine is renowned worldwide for its respectful approach to living systems, favouring old vines and carefully controlled yields. Méo-Camuzet embodies excellence by combining historic traditions with a contemporary vision, producing wines of remarkable purity.

    The Vineyard
This wine comes from the famous Corton Grand Cru, more specifically from the climat "Les Perrières". Situated at an altitude of 273 metres on a south-east-facing slope, this former stone quarry is distinguished by its brown and red clay soils resting on a clay-limestone substrate, dotted with abundant pink pebbles. The vines, planted between 1953 and 1954, are cultivated according to organic principles, without herbicides, with mechanical soil tillage to preserve the natural balance and biodiversity of the terroir.

    The Vintage
2022 was marked by a hot summer season and a growing cycle that was relatively early compared to historical averages. However, welcome coolness at the end of the season helped avoid excess overripeness, providing ideal weather conditions for berry maturation.

    Winemaking and Aging
For this Corton Grand Cru "Les Perrières" 2022, the grapes are harvested by hand in small crates. After a rigorous selection process, the berries are fully destemmed without being crushed. A few days of cold maceration precede a spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, punctuated by punching down and pumping over. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for fifteen to eighteen months. It is neither fined nor filtered before being bottled by gravity.
