    The estate

An iconic name among the great wines of the Vallée du Rhône septentrionale, Maison Paul Jaboulet-Aîné was founded in 1834 in Tain L’Hermitage. The renowned oenologist and winemaker Caroline Frey has been at the helm of this illustrious estate, owned by the Frey family since 2006. Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné oversees a 125-hectare vineyard holding, spread across outstanding appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.

    The vineyard

This Domaine de la Croix des Vignes is a Saint-Joseph wine from an 8-hectare terroir located within the appellation’s historic vineyard, above Mauves and Tournon sur Rhône. The vines, approximately 10 to 30 years old, are planted on a south-facing terroir with decomposed granite soils.

    Winemaking and aging

Harvested by hand, the grapes are sorted in the vineyard. 100% destemmed. Three-week maceration with gentle extraction through pump-overs. Malolactic fermentation. Aged for 12 months in concrete eggs, barrels and French oak demi-muids, 20% of which are new.
