    Nicolas Greinacher

The 2022 Côte-Rôtie Les Jumelles ushers in a delicate aromatic perfume, mixing black cherry and spicy elements with a crushed violet scent. Although it bundles sufficient freshness on the medium-bodied palate, I’d wish for more substance and complexity.

    Robert Parker Wine Advocate

    Yohan Castaing

Crafted from Syrah planted on the steep granite slopes of Côte Blonde and the clay-rich, iron-laden soils of Côte Brune, the 2022 Cote Rotie les Jumelles opens with aromas of dark berries, licorice, spices, garrigue and pepper, with delicate hints of gentian. Medium to full-bodied, enveloping and charming, it’s both dense and well-structured, leading to a spicy, ethereal and extended finish. Entirely destemmed and matured for 12 months in barrels, this is a beautifully crafted wine with the potential to age gracefully over the next decade or more.

An aromatic and balanced red wine from the Rhône Valley

    The property

An emblematic name of the great wines of the northern Rhône Valley, the House of Paul Jaboulet-Aîné was founded in 1834 in Tain L'Hermitage. The renowned oenologist and winemaker Caroline Frey has been running this illustrious house, owned by the Frey family since 2006. The House of Paul Jaboulet Aîné oversees a vineyard of 125 hectares of vines, spread over exceptional appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu or even Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.

The vineyards of Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage have been managed biodynamically since 2017.

    The vineyard

The Les Jumelles cuvée is a Côte-Rôtie wine made from vines aged 15 to 40 years, planted on steep granitic terraces, resting on silico-limestone soils of the Côte Blonde, and clay and iron oxide characteristic of the Côte Brune.

    Vinification and ageing

Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new.
